Mr Vikram Nair

Engineering Manager

Finlark Technologies

Dear Mr Nair,

Resignation from the position of Senior Software Engineer

Please accept this letter as formal notice of my resignation from my position as Senior Software Engineer at Finlark Technologies. In line with my notice period of 60 days, my last working day will be 1 May 2026.

Thank you for the opportunities and support I have had during my time here. I have valued working with the team, and I have learned a great deal.

Over the coming weeks I will do all I can to hand over my work smoothly, including writing down how things are done and helping whoever takes it on. Please let me know how I can help.

I wish you and Finlark Technologies every success.

Yours sincerely,

Arjun Mehta

What makes it work

  • Notice in the first sentence. There is no doubt what the letter is. It says he is resigning, from which position, and when his last day will be.
  • The last working day, worked out. Sixty days from 2 March is 1 May. The builder works the date out from the day you give notice and your notice period, and you can change it.
  • Thanks, kept short. A few kind words keep things friendly for the relieving and experience letters that come next.
  • An offer to hand over. Offering to write down how things are done, and to help whoever takes over, is what a manager most wants to read.
  • No reasons. He does not need to say why he is leaving, and the letter is better without it.

Make it yours

  • Check your notice period in your appointment letter. It may depend on your grade, or on whether you are still on probation.
  • Send it the way your company asks. Often that is an email to your manager and HR, with the letter in it or attached.
  • Keep a copy. You may need the date you resigned when you ask for your relieving letter.
