The people, companies and numbers in this example are invented.

What makes it work

  • Results first. Each bullet point starts with a verb and ends with what changed: about 1,200 more appointments a year, a query cut from 40 minutes to 3.
  • A line about each employer. “A network of 14 outpatient clinics” tells a reader from another industry what the company does, and how big it is.
  • Tools in the skills and in the work. SQL, Python and Tableau are listed as skills and appear in the bullet points where he used them. Recruiters, and the systems they search with, look for both.
  • Nothing personal. No photo, date of birth or marital status. US employers expect them to be left out.
  • No references. US employers ask for them later, so the space goes to his work.

Make it yours

  • Use numbers you can explain. “About” is fine when a figure is an estimate.
  • Spend most of the space on your last two or three roles. Earlier ones can have a line or two each.
  • Changing industries? Keep the line under each employer that says what it does.
